The crossover frequency of 800 Hz is selected to place the handoff point below the critical 1 kHz to 3 kHz vocal presence range, ensuring that voices are reproduced exclusively by the tweeter driver whose smaller, lighter diaphragm tracks rapid transients more accurately than the woofer at these frequencies. The woofer and tweeter are mounted in a coaxial arrangement with the tweeter centered within the woofer’s dust cap, producing a time-aligned acoustic phase response with zero delay differential between the two driver outputs at the listening plane.
